Our 7 year-old son went from
non-reader to excellent reader in a matter of 2 weeks. So what did we do to
make this happen? We don't know. Our 5-year old daughter knows all of her
letters and all of the sounds - but she just can't get those letters to make
words yet. What will be the magic key for her? We don't know. Our 2 year-old
is starting to name letters and make letter sounds. Will she be an early
reader? We don't know. Every child is so different with their own unique
style. What worked magic in one is a complete bomb with another. Some
children teach themselves to read, others not only can't read but don't want
to read. What to do?
READ.
Read out loud to them.
Read to find out as much as you can about teaching a child to read.
Read as an example to your children, show them what a wonderful tool and a
pleasure reading can be.
Good luck on this great adventure.
